Feeding Tampa Bay
Founded in 1982, Feeding Tampa Bay is the hunger relief leader in the community, serving a food-insecure population of more than 700,000 people in a 10-county area. Feeding Tampa Bay recovers surplus food donations from local growers, manufacturers, supermarkets, and organized community food drives and distributes it to those in need through a partnership network of more than 500 faith-based and other incorporated nonprofit hunger relief organizations. Feeding Tampa Bay supplies more than 3 million meals every month to those who would otherwise go hungry.
Hunger is usually stereotyped as homelessness, but hunger often happens to people like you and me. It affects children, single moms, fathers trying to support their family, and seniors on a fixed income.
Health is an important component to a stronger community, and is a priority to Feeding Tampa Bay and the Getaway 5K/10K. This event brings fitness, health and community to the forefront and allows our participants a chance to build their own health while giving our neighbors in need a chance at a healthier future.
- The Getaway 5K/10K has pledged to match up to $1,000 of donations received through registrations, with a guaranteed minimum donation of $750.
