The Getaway Race in St. Pete is all about #FunSunRun. This is shorthand for helping people to live their best lives emotionally and physically. However, there are others who need a little more help. Life doesn’t always go as planned.
With that in mind, the Getaway Race Series is teaming up with AARP Foundation, the charitable affiliate of AARP, giving them $1 for every registered participant, with a guaranteed donation of at least a $1,500 as a one-time donation with no maximum. Participants are invited to add to this donation as part of registration if they wish.
While AARP Foundation is a national organization, it has supported initiatives right in the St. Pete area through grants to local charities including:
Feeding Tampa Bay
- A grant to assist in Hurricane Irma and Maria relief and recovery efforts and
- A grant to increase the number of adults 50 and older in Florida who enroll in the federal Supplemental Nutrition Assistance Program (SNAP) via the Elderly Simplified Application Process (ESAP).
Senior Connection Center, Inc.
- A grant to assist in Hurricane Irma and Maria relief and recovery efforts
